Templar Complex of San Bevignate - Perugia

The former church of St. Bevignate is situated near the Monumental cemetery of Monterone and it is an important historical record of the Templar presence in Perugia, attested in the sources from the half of the XIII Century. It is simple and powerful in the exterior, but lightened inside in a game of slender ribs.

On the counter a pictorial cycle on the mission in the Holy Land of the Militia Templi, the religious-chivalric order established in Jerusalem around 1119 by the French knight Hugues de Payns. Medieval frescoes of various periods in the apseand along the side. On two levels, it preserves important archaeological structures in the basement dating back to roman period.

After long and complex works of consolidation and restoration, in 2009 the former church was officially reopened to the public; it represents a new public space of great charm and appeal, intended for hosting cultural events and initiatives.

The Templar Complex can host private events, conferences, civil wedding ceremonies and funerals. For further information, please write to segreteria@munus.com
